UMSI is dedicated to providing high-quality professional development opportunities close to home for Indiana Montessorians. We are creating a state-wide network of Montessori professionals across the state, driving high-quality Montessori education through opportunities to connect and learn together.
School Validation
The UMSI Montessori School Validation program was recognized for the first time in legislation in 2020. This program provides assurance to non-Montessori bodies (such as FSSA) that a school meets the minimum requirements to be considered a Montessori program (as established by the Montessori Essentials published by the Montessori Public Policy Initiative). This enables schools to take advantage of waivers and exceptions designed for high-fidelity Montessori programs during the licensure process. Our Validation program is now recognized by American Montessori Society, providing a streamlined application process to become an UMSI validated school and an AMS Verified school at the same time.
