UMSI is known for our annual assistant training course. It is designed specifically for classroom assistants but we find that administrators, related arts teachers, special education teachers, social workers, and other support personnel also benefit from the training. It is a four day intensive course that covers Montessori philosophy and classroom management on the first two days. The second two days are broken up by level with early childhood participants focusing on practical life, sensorial/math, and language curriculum and elementary participants focusing on math and language curriculum. If enrollment numbers support it, we offer curriculum course specific to the upper elementary age as well. Training is typically held in July in Indianapolis. Notification for registration is sent out via email to the UMSI distribution list. Contact UMSI to join the list.
Typically held in October or November in Indianapolis the annual conference is a time for all Indiana Montessori educators to come together to grow, learn, network, and exchange ideas. Check out our Annual Conference Page for information about the 2016 conference.
